Your guide meets you at your hotel in the morning. Together, get aboard a minibus to go outside of St. Petersburg, to reach a wonderful place located in the middle of the forest on the shore of a lake. As soon as you arrive, you will be warmly welcomed by a “kayur” (dog-sled leader) who participated to some of the main Arctic expeditions in Russia in the 21st century. He will introduce you to more than 30 dogs. Let the huskies share their absolute love for humans with you and take as many pictures as you want with them!
You will then go for one of the most popular Russian summer activities: dog-trekking. Accompanied by a professional, you will be hiking on 5-km in the forest: each member of the group will have a husky strapped to his back with a rope. The dogs themselves will be choosing the route and be guiding you through natural landscapes. In the middle of the journey, you will stop by the fireplace to enjoy a typical Russian lunch: grilled sausages, baked potatoes with cheese, bread and vegetables, with Russian berry juice and herbal tea. During lunch, you will discover the breathtaking history of huskies’ breed and some real stories about how it is to be a polar explorer in the Arctic Region.
After dog-trekking, you’ll have some time to ride a rowboat by yourself to the other side of the lake, observing the nature around.
Finally, the experience will proceed with trying the legendary Russian Banya in 2 different ways:
- Barrel-sauna where you enjoy the hot steam and smells of natural wood. Right after you can swim in the lake or take a summer shower.
- Phyto-sauna where you will enjoy diverse smells of herbal extracts and natural oils. This type of sauna is a perfect way to calm and improve the quality of your sleep.
At the end of this complete program, you’ll go back to St. Petersburg with your guide, and be dropped-off at the place of your choice.
