In addition to its quiet and relaxing atmosphere, Kolomenskoye Park is a veritable greenspace in the south of Moscow. Formerly the residence of the princes, and then the Czars of Russia, the Kolomenskoye area hosts many small museums and other places to visit.
Accompanied by your guide, you will explore this ancient, previously private domain, and you will visit the house of Peter I, known as Peter the Great, before you come to the Gate with the history of Kolomenskoye depicted on it. In viewing this pictorial museum, you will learn more about the ancient colonies encamped in what over the centuries would become Moscow, about the Russian Middle Ages, and about the birth of Ivan IV, known as "Ivan The Terrible", who was born in this residence on August 25, 1530. Your guide will then take you to the Church of the Virgin of Kazan, where the icon of the Our Lady of Kazan is located. You will end your excursion at the Church of the Ascension, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Church of the Ascension is the first stone church built in an octagonal form in Russia.
The Kolomenskoye Domain is a park that must be visited, either in winter or in summer. You can explore a natural setting that not only permits you to escape the noise of the city, but is also instructive and enriching.
